About Me

My name is Cody Lapierre and I am a
mechanical engineering graduate from the University of
Florida’s Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering program with minor in Sustainability and the Built Environment. Over 4 years in the mechanical engineering program, I have accrued a 3.56 GPA with Cum Laude honors. Along with my studies in the mechanical engineering program, I have been involved in multiple
extracurricular engineering organizations such as
Freshman Leadership Initiative, Benton Engineering
Council, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and
Empowered Prosthetics. I also served as a Resident Assistant at University of Florida's East Hall residence hall for on campus engineering students. Post-graduation, I started my mechanical engineering career with Q'Straint in Oakland Park, Florida where I help develop wheelchair restraint devices.

Engineers Fair (E-Fair)

At the beginning of Sophomore year (Fall 2016), I accepted the job of Assistant Director of Engineers’ Fair for UF’s Benton Engineering Council Annual Engineers’ Week. I designed the official trinket of the Fair which was a 3D printed Gator head and was involved with much of the school attendance planning and logistics of the E-Fair events.

Empowered Prosthetics

In spring of 2017, I joined the start up Empowered Prosthetics, their focus is to create and design affordable upper body prosthetics. I was a member of the hand design sub-team.

ASME E-Fests

In April 2017,  I traveled with UF's ASME chapter to ASME East E-Fest to participate in competitions for mechanical engineering students across the country. I would end up competing in the 24hr Rapid Innovation Challenge.

IAM3D DESIGN TEAM

In September 2017, I founded  the IAM3D design team through UF’s ASME chapter where we utilizing 3D printing to solve modern day issues from energy to medical and everything in-between.

Resident Assistant (RA)

In December 2017, I was offered the job of RA for the East Hall Engineering LLC, through this job I act as a floor mentor to engineering residents and maintain a fun/productive atmosphere while keeping the peace.

Integrated Product and Process Design

This interdisciplinary senior capstone program through the college of Engineering allows students to work on industry sponsored project and work through the engineering design process from problem statement through prototype. I was a member of the Northrop Grumman "Autonomous Drone Refueling" project where an autonomous drone landing station was designed/prototyped with a budget of $2,000 to decrease the time it takes to swap batteries out of a drone by 25% when compared to a manual switch.

Class Projects

Many mechanical engineering courses at the University of Florida require class projects, these projects include solar panels, robots, and elevators.

Q'Straint

A week after graduating with my bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Florida, on May 13th 2019, I started my mechanical engineering career with Q'Straint in Oakland Park Florida. Q'Straint is an industry leader in wheelchair securement devices and I serve as a Mechanical Engineer for current and new products as well as assist in the Quality Engineering department.Unfortunately, I cannot release any of my work due to a NDA. The link below is the Q'Straint company website where all Q'Straint Products can be seen.
